The mounted archers are just stupid good and win games by themselves. Manticores gain Inflict Stun, but the gryphons are serious contenders especially if you face lower tier troops. Gryphons with warlord buffs, Tireless and life steal make stupidly strong late game troops.

It also gives you air elementals, which deal lightning damage, and not many things have good resists to that. That can really screw some races later on, and in a slow game you might actually see it get into play. Keeper of the peace is often nicely thematic, and can help absorbing independents if you're playing a defensive game, which I often do as elves.Īir adept can give you seeker, no penalties on any ranged attacks, though is partially outmoded by elven Patron (?) military. Expander would help compensate for their population growth, and has an upgrade that combos well with the rogue, buffing irregulars (It's either the +movement or +sight range, I forget which). Many others will say that arch-druid is good, because of the whole 'put trees anywhere' deal, as well as hunters benefitting from almost every archer buff (of which the Elven Patron system has many, even specifying hunters in the first tier one).īoth of those strategies go much deeper than that, of course, but I'm really not familiar enough with them to say anything particularly useful.Īs for spheres, I tend to base that more on class than race.
